Good Harbor Beach Sunrise

April 16, 2012

Man At The Wheel Statue

Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester, Massachusetts, is home to some beautiful sunrises. This house up on the rocky ledge is an unofficial landmark in its own right due to its wonderful silhouetted shape.

One of the best things about Good Harbor Beach is its large scale. Even at high tide there is still plenty of beach to walk upon.

At one end of the beach is the iconic house featured in this shot, while at the other end is a distant view of Thacher Island and its twin lighthouses. The long sandy stretch of beach in between features some interesting patterns of its own.

From the blue hour to dawn the ever-changing light of sunrise creates colorful reflections in the rippled sand along the water’s edge. Great photo opportunities continually present themselves due to the ebb and flow of the tide, as well as the mood of the ocean.

Good Harbor Beach is definitely a place worth visiting any time of the year!
