Albany Covered Bridge

New Hampshire’s Albany Covered Bridge

A Love Affair Begins!

After moving to New England, it didn’t take long before I became enamored with the region’s many covered bridges. A few years ago I started mapping out car routes for single-day road trips with one goal in mind — photographing the covered bridges.

New Hampshire’s Albany Covered Bridge was one of my first captures. Just north of the Kancamagus Highway and six miles west of NH Route 16, this 120-foot piece of history spans the Swift River.

Seasonal Bonus!

Autumn is a beautiful time to explore the covered bridges of New England. Sometimes you just can’t ask for a better backdrop of color. Depending on the time of day and angle of the sun, you might be able to capture the bridge’s reflection — and that of the foliage as well — in the water below. Other times, light and shadow playing against a glorious blue sky creates an equally special moment.
