The Mount Washington Hotel

Mount Washington Hotel in October

Mount Washington Hotel

A Grand Sight!

The Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, is visually stunning. Opened in 1902, this National Historic Landmark stands majestically in the heart of the White Mountains. As you can see, this beautiful example of Spanish Renaissance architecture is a picture-perfect scene.

Fall Foliage

There is a particular route I like to drive in October to view the beautiful New England fall foliage. The Mount Washington Hotel is located on the northern side of my route, where the elevation rises during the course of my drive.

Timing Is Everything!

I took this shot at 11:36 a.m. on 10/17/2012. It was the first snow of the season for my eyes to see. Being only mid-October, the snow vanished in a couple of hours of afternoon sun. I lucked out by arriving at just the right time to capture those magnificent white-capped peaks in the background. They’ve become my timestamp for start of the visual transition of the seasons.
