Saugus Iron Works is a 9-acre National Historic Site located in Saugus, Massachusetts. The birthplace of the American iron and steel industry, the park features working waterwheels, hot forges, mills, a historic 17th century home and a lush river basin.

Things To Do

There’s plenty to see and do at Saugus Iron Works including ranger guided tours, Junior Ranger activities, park history films, and nature trail exploration. There’s definitely something for everyone in the family to enjoy.

2013 Season

This year the park is open from May 4th through October 31st. All park facilities, tours and programs are free to the public. Note: Special events, demonstrations or special park uses may require a fee.

So if you’re in the Boston area and looking for an interesting day trip for the entire family, consider a visit to Saugus Iron Works. You’ll be glad you did!
