Sunrise At Straitsmouth Lighthouse

Sunrise over Straitsmouth Lighthouse

The Blue Hour of Sunrise

The Magic of The Blue Hour

The blue hour of sunrise is my favorite time of day. While I don’t necessarily enjoy getting up in the darkness of night and heading out the door, I’m usually happy that I did. This early morning shot clearly shows you why losing some sleep — and braving a cold March morning in New England — is well worth the effort.

Location, Location, Location

I took this vibrant shot of Straitsmouth Lighthouse from the top of The Headlands in Rockport, Massachusetts. This subject was actually a bonus of the morning’s shooting event. Click here to discover what initially drew me to the shoreline.

Nothing Ventured…

You know that saying… “Nothing ventured, nothing gained.” I can attest that sometimes crawling out of bed at an ungodly hour can lead to some very worthwhile photo ops.

So, if Rockport, Massachusetts, is on your list of New England Places To Visit (and it definitely should be), you might want to consider setting your alarm for an earlier hour than usual.
