Eaton’s Little White Church

The Little White Church as the early morning fog lifts

Thoughts of Autumn

The recent feel of autumn in the air got me thinking of the Little White Church in Eaton, New Hampshire. Located alongside Crystal Lake, this picturesque New England structure is everything a photographer could ask for — especially at 7:16 a.m. on a colorful October day.

The Search Begins

On the day I took this shot, I had left my home very early in the morning to head north. When I arrived at Crystal Lake, the fog was incredibly dense. I couldn’t see the lake at all, much less across it to find the church.

Patience did eventually pay off. The rising sun soon heated the air and the fog began to lift. A few trips up and down Route 153 gave me my first glimpse of the church through the fog. But it was making a right onto Brownfield Road that gave me this view from across Crystal Lake. As you can see, it was definitely the turn to take.

Now That’s New England!

With fall foliage as a backdrop, fog rising from the water and treeline, and a white steeple church all reflecting in the lake, it really doesn’t get much more New England than that.
