Jenney Grist Mill, Plymouth, MA

The Birth of Free Trade

The Jenney Grist Mill is a working grist mill located at 48 Summer Street in Plymouth, Massachusetts. This 1970 reconstruction of the original Jenney Grist Mill (built in 1636 in Plymouth Colony), stands on the site of the original mill which burned down in 1837.

Watch & Listen to The Mill’s History

The mill has a fascinating history, one that “launched the beginning of industry, free trade, and capitalism in our country.” No one tells that history better than tour guide Leo the Miller.

Plimoth Plantation

Plimoth Plantation has now taken over the operation of the Jenney Grist Mill.

Boston’s South Shore

When exploring Boston’s south shore, make sure to add Plimoth Plantation and the Jenney Grist Mill to your list of must-see historic places.
