Colby Farm Sunflowers

Colby Farm sunflowers

A majestic field of sunflowers!

Sunflowers Galore!

If you love sunflowers, have I got a destination for you! This majestic field of sunflowers is a yearly attraction that can found at Colby Farm in Newbury, Massachusetts. From sunrise to sunset the field is available for you to enjoy. The expansive view is delightful and a stroll through the field itself is magical. This scenic gem of a destination offers plenty of photo ops for the entire family, as well as creative inspiration for photographers.

Timing Is Everything

I took this shot on August 25, 2012, in late afternoon. As you can see, the sunflowers were still in very good condition. Naturally weather affects all plants, so it is important to plan your visit accordingly. I recommend calling the farm (978-465-8868) and asking about the current condition of the sunflowers. Wind, rain, drought, etc., can all impact the condition of the flowers.

For 2014, it is anticipated that the sunflowers will be available for viewing in early September. I wouldn’t be surprised if this past winter’s “Polar Vortex” is partially responsible for the later date!

Whatever the reason, a huge field full of sunflowers will soon be available for your viewing pleasure. And while you’re there, don’t forget to visit the Colby Farmstand right next door. You’ll be glad you did!

Liz, I’m so glad to know about this place! I’m usually looking for a brief holiday in late summer (tide me over until foliage season) and this may be it. I’ve been to the sunflower farm in Connecticut a few times but figure I’d like a change.
